General Information About Scott's Galilea
Scott's Galilea is a small retreat hotel twenty minutes from Palma. There are just three houses and seven terrace studios set into three acres of gardens scattered down a hillside on four levels. The sun shines 335 days a year on breathtaking views over the valley to the sea, and on the tiled roofs of the local village, Galilea, considered one of the prettiest in Spain. Among the world's best The new Scott's is a sister establishment to Scott's Townhouse Hotel in Binissalem, reviewed last year by famed hotel critic Alistair Sawday as one of his six favourite Mediterranean hideaways, and of which the UK's Good Hotel Guide said, "Heaven! Possibly the most satisfying hotel I've ever stayed in." All the attention to detail, taste, warmth of service, and commitment to quality that characterise the original Scott's are reflected in their complex in Galilea. They are the standards that have already been set, and they are what you can count on finding when you make a booking at Scott's in Galilea. Balm for the soul Scott's Galilea offers something special and rare: sweet tranquility. Set just below the crest of a green mountain valley in one of Mallorca's pristine restricted development areas, the arm-wide vistas from your own individual terrace are complemented by cool silence, broken only by a bird call, a distant sheep bell, the sigh of the breeze in the pines. It's a place for reflection, recovery and retreat, a healing place, a sanctuary from life's stresses thinly disguised as a hostelry.
Too many places skimp. We even had to go out to buy salt and pepper when staying at one self-catering establishment. Up in Galilea you'll find everything you need to cook at any level you choose. And we even provide you with a "starter" hamper when you arrive (including a bottle of bubbly!) so that you won't have to worry about going into the village on our first evening or morning. A wonderful night's sleep: the "rest" of your life Scott's Townhouse became famous partly because of the fine Vi-Spring beds that are our trademark there, each one handmade especially for the hotel, and dressed with dreamy goose down pillows (hypo-allergenic pillows available on request) and Ralph Lauren's or Bloomingdales' best bed linen. Scott's Galilea offers the same beds, so you'll have a wonderful night's rest, guaranteed. But we don't neglect outdoor people For guests who want to get the most out of the three acres (1.2 hectares) of gardens and grounds, there's an outdoor pool for a lazy swim in the sunshine. Or go for a walk Galilea is astride a network of mountain paths, including the famous ascent to Galatzo, one of the island's premier hiking destinations. For a late lunch, it's an easy 45-minute walk to Puigpunyent or to La Reserva, one of the island's wildlife attractions. The range of walking possibilities covers choices for light strolling all the way up to serious trekking. Or for a round of golf For a different kind of walking, within 25 minutes' drive there is a rich choice of golf clubs: two Santa Ponsa Golf Clubs, Poniente Golf Club, the Royal Bendinat Golf Club (a championship course), and the Son Vida Golf Resort. A half hour away are the Andratx Golf Club or Son Termens Gold Club.
It's less than a half hour to any of these activities. Riding, too, can be arranged, though you'll need to drive 35 minutes to the stables. Many people think our accommodation is pretty special As in Scott's townhouse hotel, every room at Scott's Galilea is individually decorated, different from any of the others, though the common theme is rustic sophistication, with bright floral fabrics and comfortable furniture complementing the beamed ceilings and vernacular tiles chosen by Pedro Otzoup, the architect for the complex, one of whose last commissions was Claudia Schiffer's house on the island. Most of the studios and all of the houses have fireplaces, all have individual south-facing terraces with views to the sea in the distance; aromatic flowers and plants are abundant. Pretty prints hang on the walls and the smaller decorations are eclectic and apt. There is a DVD-connected small TV set, a radio, and kitchen facilities to offer whatever degree of self-catering our guests wish to pursue. The emphasis is firmly on comfort and convenience. Scott's Galilea is a place for grown-ups. |
